Our mission

Dedicated to the transmission of the Bakossi cultural heritage, the socio-economic growth of our community and the preservation of our ancestral lands.

The Bakossi Community in Switzerland (BAKOSWISS) is an association that began taking shape in the spring of 2014. This was an expression of the strong desire for sons and daughters that share the common ancestry and culture of the Bakossiland occupying the area of Kupe-Muanenguba region of the Republic of Cameroon and residing in Switzerland to strengthen both their spirit of unity and the common link they share to their ancestral lands.

BAKOSWISS is a non-profit cultural and development association whose membership is open to all sons and daughters of Bakossiland in the diaspora, their significant others, friends and well-wishers. We are a strongly member driven association with a strict policy of non-discrimination against any individual or group of individuals on the basis of age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or political affiliation.

Through this website, BAKOSWISS hopes to fulfil your desire and curiosity to discover some of the richness in terms of geography, the people and the culture, and to provide other practical information on the association and its activities.

Thanks to our well-wishers!

Proceeds from our first fundraising event in 2019 permitted us to provide school supplies to more than one thousand children in a local school.
